    Hello!

This is titled as a driver update but the errors belong to Windows. This has been a bad install of windows and I have been fighting allsorts of installation problems. This is the latest.

I attempted to install the driver. At the onset I get this error message:

INSTALL caused a general protection fault
    in module W82548EN.EXE at 0001:000016cc.

If I abort the installation, all is well. If I attempt to continue, the installation proceeds until the very end, when I get:

Fatal Exception 06 at 0000:00000334 - Continuing results in:

Fatal Exception 0E at 0167:BFF9DFFF - Continuing results in:

Stimon caused a General Protection Fault in module KRNL.EXE at 0001:0000386F

...at which point the computer stops responding and I must use the reset button to reboot.

The video driver upgrade .exe is a known good copy.

Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcome EXCEPT: No, I will not upgrade to XP!

This problem is on my computer but...

Hole in one! You aced it bud!! First link showed the way! I updated driver in device manager and pointed to:

    C:\ATI\Support\W82548en\macxw4.inf.

It installed smoothly, without error. I doubled checked driver file details and v2548 is indeed installed.

Linkmaster strikes again! Thx good buddy! :)
