Does Vista HP even have the ability to view folders in a thumbnail viewing mode ??
Or does one have to pay another $100 for the Vista Ultimate to get this XP home feature ??

Your in the wrong menu item. Try tools/Folder options/View. And then the first option. In the menu you have posted selct the last item.

Many Thanks ... But that wasn't it - exactly .. this was the correct menu.
Since that didn't work ... and you said it should ...
I realized I had messed around in "puter" and had changed my visual effects for the best performance.
You really don't want to do that.
I think this also fixed my next question ... will have to poke around some more.
    Many Thanks again.

    FYI ..
This seems to have also solved my "open with" problems.
Before .. Irfanview refused to become my system default Viewer/Editor...
And Vista refused to fix it.
When I'd click on a picture file "Open with Irfanview" and browse to it ....
It would open in Adobe Reader or Photoshop.
Things seem to be working as I'd expect now.

Too bad Vista didn't fix the psd thumbnail problem that XP had.

    Thanks again.

I didn't have any luck with the previous methods. What worked for me was going to: system, advanced system settings, performance settings, visual effects, show thumbnails instead of icons ( this selection box must be chosen)

I hate being forced to have Image thumbnails on my desktop instead of Icons.
I can't tell what Image type a thumbnail is .. or even see the thumbnail that Vista provides instead of a desktop Icon.
Kinda messes me up and I can't use my customized Irfanview Icons in Vista.

Seems to me M$ has forgot there's a difference between Thumbnails and Icons.
So far ... My solution is to stay with XP
