My work phone (VOIP) has an IP address for one network, but my ISP is on another network. I have a router but the VOIP phone doesn't seem to connect. My internet connection through the router is solid. How do I configure the router to allow the VOIP phone to access my work network through my home internet connection?

    TIA.

The exact make/model of the equipment would be a good start here, as well as EXACTLY how they're all connected together.

Phone - Cisco 7940 IP phone
Router - Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL (not wireless).

Cable to Surfboard cable modem to router. Computer in port one of router. Phone in port two. Computer is a Dell Inspiron running Windows Vista.

It appears that VoIP phone is intended for connection to an office environment TCP/IP network with a PBX controller. I don't see how you plan on connecting it directly to the Internet.

Never mind. After googling, I found I had to clear the phone configuration so it could pull my router's IP address. It was still trying to pull my work's IP address. It works fine now.

So, this phone works directly on the Internet through the router? I didn't get that from reading the description. :)
