    I've been struggling to get rid ot the Vundo virus for a couple of days now. I've tried using Norton's AntiVirus and their FixVundo program, AVG's anti-malware program, and VundoFix V6.5.4, all to no avail. I've gotten rid of several infected files but I'm not able to get rid of the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyx.dll file, and s xycdd.ini file in the same directory. VundoFix6.5.4 got rid of several others but now gives me an "Error: 75. Path/File access error"

    Please click here http://www.majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html to download the latest version of JAVA Install the application, then go to the Add/Remove Programs options in the Control Panel and Remove ALL previous versions of JAVA.
    ======================

    NOTE: If you have downloaded ComboFix previously please delete that version and download it again!

    Does that seem like it? I haven't re-run Norton Antivirus or anything besides Hijack This since the fix.

    Fix this with HiJackThis – mark it, close IE, click fix checked

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: jkkiffc - jkkiffc.dll (file missing)

    START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

    Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

    Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
    Empty the recycle bin

    Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

    No problem with the HijackThis fix, that worked fine.

    Tried to delete all files in C:\Windows\Temp and got the error message

    "Cannot delete Perflib_Perfdata_240: It is being used by another person or program.
    Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

    I closed the open apps (Notepad was all that was open) and tried again, but got the same message. That file was a DAT file if that matters. Otherwise the few files that were there were deleted.

    I'm not getting the really annoying pop-up from Norton telling me I've got the virus still, so that seems positive. The ddcyx.dll and xycdd.ini files have not reappeared either.

    I figure I'll run a Norton Antivirus scan to be sure and that should hopefully do it, or am I being too optimistic?
