This is an HP laptop running vista and I use windows internet explorer as my web browser
OK this is a crazy one, I tried to make a copy of my favorites list for backup if the computer crashed in the future. And it seems that not only did I copy the list but also took away my ability to now use the favorites buttons on the windows internet explorer bar, here is the message I get

C:\Users\Janie\Contacts\Favorites\Favorites\Favorites\Favorites refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be
on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that your are connected
to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been
    moved to a different location.

The favorites button still appear but they are empty and do not function at only recceiving the above message everytime I click on it

I found the list located under documents then onto files, I sent the favorites file to the desktop for quick access but it is still easier to use it back when it was attached to the and or working in the toolbar, I think it also copied onto a DVr I put in the machine when I was trying to copy it, and when I insert that DVr it shows up in the list below folders as in an E drive
Is there somee way I can get it back and running on the toolbar?
Thanks for looking and any help you can offer.

Put a copy of your favorites folder at this location and see if they
    show up in IE.

    C:\Users\Janie\Favorites

Are you familiar with Windows Explorer?
How did you find your favorites in documents, in order to put them on your desktop?

I received your email...going to keep this here on the forum.
So, if anyone else has a problem, they can see it.

Close all windows. Then open Windows Explorer.
Start Menu->Programs->Windows Explorer. You might have
to look a bit, but it should definitely be there.

It should open with a left pane that shows your hierarchy of
folders. At the top, should be the desktop. Clicking or
double-clicking that, it should open up showing all your
    files/folders in the right pane.

Locate your favorites folder there in the right pane.

Now, go back to the left pane and go down the list of folders.
Locate your username. If there is a small + next to it, click
that to open. Next look for Janie and finally for favorites.
Once you located favorites just be sure to leave that sitting
    there.

Go back to the right pane, highlight (don't open - just
highlight) the favorites folder. Grab it with your mouse by
holding down your left button. Drag it to the favorites folder
    in the left pane.

Open IE and see if your favorites are back in place.

It took some tries last night and then again this morning, seemed pretty touchy moving it from right pane to get it aligned with program in left pane and finally worked .
    KUDOS & AVOWAL TO YOU,
    THANKS AGAIN,
