 I just swapped out my old 80 GB HDD and replaced it with a new 500GB drive. It shows up in the Bios and also in the Device Manager as shown here:

The list of drives as shown in the Bios is:

    Primary IDE Master [ WDC 2500 JB-98GVA]
Primary IDE Slave [ WDC 5000AAKB-00Y] THIS IS THE NEW ONE!
Secondary IDE Master [ SONY DVD RW DRV]
Secondary IDE Slave [ BENQ DVD DD DW1]
Third IDE Master [ Maxtor 7Y250M0]
Fourth IDE Master [ ST 3160023 AS]

But it doesn't appear in Windows Explorer! Can anyone tell me what to do to get it to show up in Explorer?
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    .....Gord

I was told it was ready to go so I assume it is. If not, how do I format it if I can't even see it in Windows Explorer?

Start > Run > type "diskmgmt.msc" > Right-click on the new drive and select "Format". The formatting wizard will guide you through the method that is best for your situation.

A new hard drive always needs to be formatted after being installed.
