Does it freeze and unfreeze, or does it freeze and then you have to restart?

Does it freeze at any specific time (eg playing a game) or is it random?

Can we have this information:
OS
video card brand and model
cpu
m/board
ram
power supply
brand
model
wattage

How often does this freeze occur?

Is it load dependent; i.e. when you have a lot of internet browser windows [ or tabs ] open? Does it happen when you are playing a computer game? If so, which game? Does it happen when you have program A; program B; program C; & program D running? Does it occur when you editing an image or movie?

Was the W7 install an upgrade or a clean install?

If an upgrade, from what?

In which activities is the computer engaged when the freezing occurs?

Are any error messages displayed? If so, please provide as much of the message as possible.

Any BSODs? Blue Screen of Death?

Start > RIGHT click "computer"
Left click "properties"
Upper left, left click "advanced system settings"
On the "advanced" tab, "startup & recovery section", left click "settings" button.
Have checks for "write an event" and "auto re-start" in place.
Select "small memory dump"
Uncheck the "over write" box
Left check "ok"
In the event viewer, are there any errors or warnings noted at the time your computer freezes?
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/226084-event-viewer-open-use-windows-7-a.html

If there are errors reported for the time of the freeze,
Left click / select said error
left click the "copy" icon on the right.
Left click "details as text".
Paste that information in a reply area of this thread.

By freezing do you mean unresponsive to both mouse & keyboard stimulation?

In addition to m's questions, in lieu of the motherboard, which brand / model & model # of the computer manufacturer?

Have you run any diagnostics? Your computer manufacture may have some.
You can run a memory diag from the W7 repair options.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/715-memory-diagnostics-tool.html
I suggest running it for at least 8 hours, or until an error appears. If your computer has > 1 stick of ram, with the computer turned off, remove all sticks. Run the mem diag with 1 stick; repeat for each stick.

I use OCCT for CPU & GPU diags.

Which, if any maneuvers have you tried to fix the issue?

Run the diags.
Check the motherboard for leaky or bulging capacitors.
has some images.

Disconnect all peripherals except mouse, monitor & keyboard.

Do you use ethernet or wi fi or USB to connect to the internet?

Does the computer connect directly to a wall outlet, or through a UPS [ uninterrupted power supply ] with battery backup?

Hi All, I ran diags as suggested - nothing to report.
I am currently cooking on Cable HS Broadband - freezes are completely random with no apparent corruptive effect. It is pure nuisance value.

With which browser are you cooking?

Try a different browser.

If you are using IE, try IE with no add ons.

If you are using FF, try FF in FF's safe mode [ NOT the saem as W7's safe mode ].

Does the freeeze occur when you have terminated your internet connection?

Hi RF123,
am simmering with IE - I'll give the no add ons a try.

Only use comuter evenings & weekends when home so will note exactly what i am doing if and when the next freeze occurs.
