I have an XP and a Windows 7 on network (put them in the same Group). I can see the Win7 machine on the XP computer,, accesss files from it. But the XP computer does not show up on Windows7. File sharing was enabled in both. In another post TerryNet asked for the following info (nbtstat -n and IPCONFIG /ALL) from both machines. I thought I will post them assuming I have similar issue as in the previous post (or helps eliminate that issue). here are the details of these two commands from the two machines.

All that information looks good, so we'll have to dig deeper.

On the Windows 7 when you click Start and then Network only the Windows 7 machine shows up, right?

Could possibly be a firewall on the XP machine. What, if any, non-Windows firewall or security suite do you have on it?

Make sure on the XP that the following services are Started (Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services).

    Computer Browser
    DHCP Client
    DNS Client
    Network Location Awareness
    Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    Server
    TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
    Workstation

yes. Only Windows 7 macine shows up when I click Start->Computer->network
I noticed that Computer browser did not say it stared in the Status though the startup type was indicated as Automatic.
I do not think I am using any other non windows firewalls or security Suites. I just thought I will post my Hijackthis log (which may indicate that I may have something that I am not aware of).

Thanks Terry. You found the exact problem.I read a little about Computer Browser and found out that Firewall could block this from starting. So even though I swore that I took care of my Windows Firewall perfectly, I went back into the firewall settings and noticed I clicked "not to allow exceptions" at some point, I dont know when. So now cleared it,the problem is solved. I see both machines from each one.

Thanks for your prompt reply which helped me resolve my struggle since this morning.
