Solved: windows 7 installation

    I am getting an error "cannot install" 0x80070714 when I try to install windows 7 into a clean disk and the installtion just stops..
    anyone know the answer?

    I have used these DVD's before. I have tried 32 bit and 64 bit install disks and get the same error.

    if you have a windows XP cd try installing that (you don't have to enter the key as you have a 30 day grace)if successful run memtest from here.http://www.memtest.org/

    I wanted a clean installation.
    I seem to have stumbled upon if not the answer at least a workaround.
    I am using a new 250Gb disk which I checked out and formatted in XP
    In he win 7 setup I formatted it again but that did no good.
    I have now deleted the partition and allowed Win 7 to create a new one. It actually created two partitions and now it happily installs.
