[SOLVED] windows 98 install hangs

I am trying to install windows 98 and it keeps hanging at the part it say setup is preparing windows 98 setup wizard it gets to 100% and a black box appears over the box and it freezes. I didn't format the c drive first could it be that as I was not sure of the correct way to format last time a tech talked me through it. Please help this pc is depriving me of sleep.

Formatting the drive is always the best option when installing any OS.
From a command prompt type format C:
and follow the prompts.

It is also best to disconnect any printers/scanners etc before you install the OS and then add them in 1 at a time once you have windows up and running.
