I have two HDDs an 8GB split in half 4GB windows 98SE and 4GB windows 2000 and an 80GB with windows Xp, when my computer boots I get the OS select screenand so I choose windows 98SE but all I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor and nothing else (installed the unofficial SP2), do t know what to do from here.

Looks like the unofficial SP2 is giving trouble. When exactly did you install the SP2?

Did you have the Windows 98 CD, try repairing the installation (wait, I am not sure if the option is there, but do check).

When you boot into Win98 continually tap the F8 key until you get a menu that gives you options of booting. Use your arrow and scroll to the 'command prompt' option and hit enter. At the command prompt type in:
scanreg /restore and enter. (Note that there is a space between 'g' and '/' ) There should be a short list of restore dates so choose one before the sp2 install. That should take you back to the first part of the process again.

I tried that, but nothing I happens I just get that blinking cursor, I'll just have to boot into Xp or 2000 backup the important files and rerun setup.
