Go to http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download HiJackThis. Use Winzip to unzip it, then install and run it. To run, click the “Scan” button. When it's done the "Scan" button changes to "Save Log". Save the log file it creates (it should open in Notepad at that point). Copy and paste the results in your next post. IF you happen to be using a proxy server, please mention it in your post. Most of what it finds is harmless, so do not do anything yet. Someone will be glad to help you sort out any of the baddies that may be in there.

Just a quick observation, rambooster is worthless.

Winamp, clonecd, download accelerator (I've yet to see those help) PCHealth, EZCD Creator don't need to run at startup.

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe (fix that one, info on it below)

    http://www.winpatrol.com/db/freesample/powerreg_scheduler.html

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadQM] loadqm.exe (fix this one too)

I only use DAP because it can resume downloads. Do you think running adaware would help

Just hold tight for someone to look at the rest of the log. Can DAP be started only when you begin to download? Instead of everytime windows starts?

i might recommend downloading a program like regclean from dowload.com to clean out your registry a little. It might reduce boot time and can sometimes fix minor memory leaks. i am not sure though if it is compatible under ME

In Hijack This, check ALL of the following items. Double check so as to be sure not to miss a single one.
Next, close all browser Windows, and have HT fix all checked.

    O3 - Toolbar: DAP Bar - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\DAP\DAPIEBAR.DLL

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCHealth] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\Support\PCHSchd.exe -s
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINAMP\WINAMPa.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadQM] loadqm.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CloneCDTray] C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\CloneCDTray.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DownloadAccelerator] C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\DAP.EXE /STARTUP
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PWSTray] PwsTray.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [devldr16.exe] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\devldr16.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CreateCD] C:\PROGRA~1\ADAPTEC\EASYCD~1\CREATECD\CREATECD.EXE -r

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MSDTC] msdtcw -start
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [inetinfo.exe] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe -e w3svc
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [RamBooster] C:\PROGRAM FILES\RAMBOOSTER\RAMBOOSTER.EXE
    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Download with &DAP - C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\dapextie.htm
    O8 - Extra context menu item: Download &all with DAP - C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\dapextie2.htm

O9 - Extra button: Run DAP (HKLM)

None of these need to start up every time you stant your PC. They can be started from the Program menu on an as needed basis.

A few are even pretty much worthless.

Now download Spybot - Search & Destroy (if you haven't got the program installed already)

After installing, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove/fix all it finds that are in RED

    Reboot

Last, run HJT again and post your log again to see if anything was missed.

    Thanks
