Thank you for this great site!!
I recently got a virus - I think, so I ran my Norton Anti-virus and it seems to have got rid of it. I also ran spybot and removed the files it recommends, but strangely, the Windows Media Player does not now appear, even when I open a file to play in the Player (via Explorer) or to open it from the Programs shortcut.
Does anyone have any ideas what is happening?

    Thanks in advance.

Removing the virus or spyware infection may of removed or corrupted some necessary files. Have a look at the MSKB link below and you may have to follow Method 3.

    Let us know the outcome.

    Well, thanks, Dave.
I couldn't find the Media player to uninstall in the Control Panal, so I don't understand what happened to it.
However, I followed your link to install it again, and it seems to have been successful.
    Many thanks.
