WMP is on my PC but for some reason it will not show the image part of an mpeg. It does play the audio, but just shows those wacky visualizations instead of the moving image that is part of the file.

I've tried this numerous times always with the same results. Any suggestions? It's WMP v.10.00.00.3646.

Might a virus, or some scumware, be screwing things up?

Thanks.

Hiya

I've moved this to the Multimdeia forum for more response :)

The file itself may not be a true mpeg, as has happened in the past many times for me. So, try opening it up using WMP 6.4, if you have it.

Go to Start | Find Files, and search for this one:

mplayer2.exe

And then open it up in there, using the Browse facility in File | Open.

If it plays, does it have a yellow sun icon in the bottom left corner?

Regards

I had this problem once with AVI's and Windows Media Player. A download and install of the X Codec Pack 1.8.4.151 solved the problem fo me.

I use version 9 though so I can't say for sure.

Good Luck
