    Hiya!

I'm having a similar problem to the person in this post , and because EAFieldler said to start a new thread if anyone else had the same problem I am.

Everytime I turn my computer on I get this error message popping up:
    Windows - No Disk
    Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c

I have to click on "cancel" about 4 times before it disappears.

I've downloaded Hijack This, done a system scan and I'll post the log file at the end of my post. I really hope someone can help.

    Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

The most common source of this is Qucktime:

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93687

If that doesn't resolve it, try a "clean boot" technique of loading Windows to isolate it:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup group" on the general page.

See this link for detailed information:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310353

Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as well.

Get the idea? You want to isolate the problem to a specific startup if possible.

Note: if you already have items unchecked under msconfig > startups and are in “selective” startup mode – you should note what these are before beginning. They will need to be de-selected again.

Fantastic, Rog! I started off trying the info on Quicktime in the link you sent and that fixed the problem. I think I'm stunned that such a long-named, sinister-looking error message could be fixed so quickly and easily. LOL! :D

Thank you soooooooo much for your help. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, the "exception processing" part of the message gave me doubts as well -- as I hadn't seen that posted before where QT was involved.

But glad that was it. You're most welcome for the help :)

I started having problems with the same error message “Windows – No Disk” and/or “CTFMON.exe – No Disk”. I’ve read the post and my conclusion is that everyone has the same symptoms from what is perceived as programs or other software running on their computers, but in my case, it wasn’t any program. It was a Virus/Trojan I picked-up on my thumb-drive. At the same time the problem popped-up, McAfee detected and removed the following:

    • BackDoor-CEP.svr (Trojan)
    • Generic!tr(Trojan)
    • W32/CWT.worm (Virus)`

It seems that one of these Trojans or viruses were the culprits because once McAfee removed them a day later (Sunday their server was down for maintenance, so I couldn’t connect) the problem was gone and I haven’t had any problems since. Look for these Trojans, Worms or viruses on your computers and remove them. They may be the source of your headaches. Good Luck.

I will throw in my 2 cents.

Thanks to the moderators for sharing their knowledge, much appreciated.

I went through the system config tool and followed Rogs' thorough and easily understood steps, thanks for explaining in detail.

The problem I have with this error was narrowed down to the SYSTEM.INI file. Once disabled in the system config and windows rebooted the error message is gone. However, I cant just leave that huge window file closed can I? I don't even know what its for but it uses a substantial amount of resources and being as nieve as I am I can only assume it is necessary.

    Any thoughts Rog?

After re-enabling everything including SYSTEM.INI I cannot get on to the internet, it also seems several apps are not loading upon startup yet everything in the system config is checked to run. What happened? This made matters worse! I can't really do anything now. If I have gone back and enabled everything and windows isnt running properly, what the hell did I do?

I read a different post from another user with similar problem, Rog, you mentioned to run services.msc so I did, I noticed a lot of windows apps? disabled? I don't recall disabling any of them and as I mentioned before I went back into MsConfig and enabled everything. Now I am enabling these 1 by 1, royal pain in my *** and furthermore I don't even know if it will work! I do know this, I could use my computer before.

Sometimes I just want to go back to the days where Abacus was the tool to use! <sighs>

system.ini is kind of a legacy file in XP -- but try enabling, disabling the individual items for further testing. You should start a separate topic for further attention.
