My windows take a very log time to log off, it also sometimes after it logs off the screen will go black and the green light on my moniter will go from green to orange (which i believe means it is not getting a signal). after a while it the light will turn green again and the picture will come back. i dont know if these two problems are linked or not. the problem that i care about the most is the long log-off time. i have run virus scans, and microsoft anti-spyware. so i do not have any viruses or spyware. the programs that i have in the system tray when it loads are, creative volume control, microsoft anit-spyware, norton internet security, norton anit-virus auto protect, hotsync (palm pilote), and a program that tells if my printer is connected (hp printer). when i go to log-off i close all of these programs except the two norton programs. but it still takes a long time to log-off. the last two programs will close and then it just sits there. i have looked everywhere for the answer and i have done alot of work but nothing has worked. i do not believe i have a roaming user profile, because i have been told that might be the problem. but tell me how to check anyway. any other ideas of what might be causing this?

    Hi..what system are you using?
Can you not log off by..clicking start and then shutdown?
If your using Ctrl-Alt-Delete..Scan registry and System Tray should be left..

i have solved my problem, i used msconfig and i disabled some of my startup programs, i believe it was either hotsnyc or my printer program that was causing the problem. my log-in now signs off in a matter of seconds :)
