keep getting "blue screen" tried restarting in safety mode and all other modes with no luck. windows xp logo comes up then goes to blue screen. ran diagnostics test with an error. keep getting DST Short Test FAIL! Code 1000-0146 Unit 0: DST Log contains previous error(s). goes to blue screen that says UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME Tech Info: STOP: 0x000000ED (0x86cE4900, 0xC000009C, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) I haven't installed anything new or uninstalled anything. I don't have a windows disk to run chkdsk. just can't figure it out, please help, this computer hasn't had any problems until now. not worried about any data on it, its all backed up.

that's a dead hard drive. You will need to replace it and reinstall, IMO.
