When I go to HELP and Go to Looking for Upgrades I get a "Windows Media Update Notifieris currently unable to detect available updates. Please try again later" message. Are there any fixes?

I've seen that Article and thank you but... I'll be a monkeys uncle if I could find System File Checker in Win XP. You can run a command line and Windows File Protection will check the original cd with the installed system but it finds no problems. I cannot extract the file from the original disk if I wanted to replace it anyway. System File checker isn't working in XP. I guess I have to punt on this one. Thanks for the help, Steve

    Hiya

Not sure if this will work, but as I have 2000, I had a look as well.
No SFC, but I went to MSCONFIG. In the first tab is Expand File. Clicking on that I was faced with 3 options: File to, Restore and Save File in.

    Does that work in XP?

I seemed to be getting somewhere until I tried to isolate which cab file from the original cd. I tried a hit and miss approach. Guess what? I missed. Thanks, Steve

    Hiya

    Lets see if this works.

    Go to Run and type

    regsvr32.exe msxml.dll

and see if re-registering it will help.
