How is it now installed (only system on computer; dual or multi boot; as a guest system; etc.)?

Dual boot? If so, which is default? Do you have the Windows 7 installation DVD or a System Repair Disk?

If you have a dual boot please attach a screen shot of the Disk Management window. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 7 or 8 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Right click on "Computer" - Properties - Advanced system settings - Settings... in the Startup and Recovery section - Advanced tab - make Windows 7 the default system and reduce the Time to display list of operating systems to 1 or 0.

As you have deleted the Windows 8 Start menu, together with the boot partition,, the quickest way is to insert your Windows 7 DVD and , when you get to the appropriate window, "repair start". You may have to do it a couple of times.

Press the Windows + R key shortcut to launch the Run dialog box, type in "msconfig" without quotation marks and press Enter. The System Configuration window pops up and you have to go to the 'Boot' tab, select the Windows 8 item in the list and click Delete.

the simplest & safest way to edit the boot menu to remove windows 8 is to use easybcd

select the free version & then use the edit boot menu option

Note: you do NOT need to give name and email address when downloading, just press the download button after you press the register link
