    Hi

When I highlight text that requires highlighting down beyond bottom of window (eg 2 pages of text), the window will "whizz down" superfast. When I try to highlight upwards the window will whizz up superfast. I there a way with a key action to slow it down please?
The alternative is for me highlight in chunks holding Shift key

The only way that I discovered (Win98/Word97) is to "gently" move the mouse down once you have hit the end of the first page.

You CAN use the shift key to do the blocking.
Select the start of the text, and then scroll using the scroll bars. Then with the shift key held, select the end of the text.

    Mike,

I have this problem too and discovered that you can scroll down slowly if you use the scroll button on the mouse at the same time as you hold down the left mouse button to select the text.

For example, highlight one line and keep the mouse at the right side of the text with the left button held down and you can scroll a line or two at a time this way.

It works for me. Hope it helps you.

Hi.Cookie's suggestion is, I have found, to be the best one. However, on one of my computers, my mouse has no scroll wheel, and on my laptop, the pointing device has no scroll function.

For cases when you have no scroll wheel, try highlighting some text, and then using your down arrow to move down the text(while holding the right-mouse button down), rather than dragging you mouse. This seems to work for Word 2002.

    Hi Guys
Thanks for replies, I've found that the easiest is to click an insertion point at start of text to be highlighted, scroll down on the scroll bar, hold Shift and click at the end of where highlight is to end. Brilliant.... Thank you
