I am using Windows XP SP2 with Office 2003. I am having a problem with Word 2003 but none of the other Office programs. When I open Word the cursor keeps changing to an hourglass every 8 seconds and stays that way for about 30 seconds. It stalls what I am doing and makes it difficult to type. I have searched for answers here and on the web. The only information I have seen says there could be a problem with Adobe. I have Adobe Reader 7 and Adobe Download Manager. I have run numerous virus/spyware scans through various companies and nothing shows so I eliminated virus or adware/spyware problems. I would appreciate any assistance as this is driving me crazy.

    Thanking you in advance.

    dshahen,
I think you'll get more information in another part of the forums

I'll ask a moderator to move this, to the Business Apps forum.

I believe you'll get a quicker, more informed response there

During the hourglass session, do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete, this will bring up Task Manager, which will then tell you what application is running and causing the hourglass to appear.

Resolved. Thanks The issue had to do with my Brother printer. The fix is this. Go to ctrl/alt/del, go to processes, END process spoolsv.exe. It works everytime. I haven't had the problem once since I bought a Lexmark printer.
