    using vista
    not sure what i am asking.
    never had a problem with word before.
    click on one of my files and it tells me to go to control panel to set association........can't find anything there of that nature.
    suddenly my wpdocs icon @ the top of the page has an abridged version of all my files.
    in "search" i can find another file of wpdocs which has all my files in it.
    how do i move this file into the existing icon????? or do i have to associate the documents as well.
    hope this makes some sense

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

    if its file assocation thats the issue
    right click on the file
    open with
    i would choose word and make sure it opens OK
    Then do it again
    right click on the file
    this time
    open with
    thne choose default program and select word - now all files of that type - .doc will open with word
