    Hi

I've just tried to reinstall XP Home on to my laptop (valid CoA,etc) after the HHD died and had to be replaced.

Unfortunately the CD has a scratch so won't boot install. I've tried to copy it on to my HDD to make a USB boot disk, but the data won't copy (it sticks on the 1st file "netfx".

What can I do to sort that and make a bootable USB?

Did the laptop come with XP and is the COA on the disc or PC?

If you`ve got a local computer shop nearby, they might have a CD cleaning machine that would take out minor scratches but it really depends on how damaged it is.

Alternatively you could buy a hand-held cleaner from either Amazon or even your supermarket so you`ll have it again when you need it and they`re not that expensive.
