When i start up my computer, everything goes fine, but when the welcome screen is about to come up, an error comes up saying

    Parser Message
Value created failed " at line 8

Then, it goes to the old style login screen. I have to click OK on the parser message multiple times for it to work. Every time i click it, a wierd noise comes from my computer

Also, when i try to shut down/restart my computer, it only flashes and does nothing

    Help please

Check the size of your page file - the hidden file pagefile.sys
Check the size : Right-click My Computer => Properties => Advanced => Performance section => Settings => Advanced tab => Virtual Memory section => Change
Set it to let Windows Manage it, if this isn't already the case.

There may be other suggestions, but if nothing works, you may be looking at an in-place Repair install.

I strongly suggest that you make no changes to 'boot screens.' You have already experienced trouble. These 'customizations' often render Windows un-bootable. High price to pay for some eye candy.

I think it best to limit your visual changes to your user account. That way a new account is an option in case of corruption.

Have you tried 'Last Known Good Configuration' from the startup menu (F8 after the manufacturer's splash screen)?
