For about a week now, when I boot up XP, it tries to install Photo gallery. I have to click cancel several times before it will go away, then it tries to install fax. I get found new hardware popping up, even though I haven't installed anything. I don't use photo gallery, and the only fax I use is from my printer, so I'd prefer that these two things would just go away. I'm not looking to fix them, except in the veterinary sense. How can I stop these from attempting to load?
    Thank you
    John

Neither is in the add/remove programs.
What I get when I boot is: windows installer Please wait while windows configures fax.
then I get: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click okay to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'fax.msi'i n the box below

If I try to cancel, I get: error 1706 No valid source could be found for product fax. The windows installer cannot continue.

The process repeats for several times when i click on cancel, but eventually I can get it to give up. I'm not trying to install a fax, or photo gallery, and I don't understand why it thinks I am. I just want it to boot up and run without going through this. it's very frustrating.
    Thanks

I think I may have found the solution. I googled the error code, and found more information, mostly leading to repair utilities that say they are free until you actually want to repair something. Then I found the Microsoft fix it utility Program install and uninstall troubleshooter. I ran it, and it did some fixes; let me pick fax off of a list, and when I rebooted, the problem did not reappear. Hopefully that is the end of it.:)
