Hey, I knew it would be sooon!!
My computer refuses to boot into Regular Windows XP. It will boot in Safe Mode. Only recent install is SpyBot S&D. Roller Coaster Tycoon Continues to grow in size could be problem. Forgot to mention, no error message. Just continues to show the black loading screen with the XP logo.
Edit again-- I have like 1000 of these .IDX files in My Documents. I just noticed them as i never use My Docs.

    Hi one thing to try.
Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG
    Select the Boot.ini tab

If you have dual-boot setup, select the appropriate entry under [operating systems]

In the Boot Options section at the bottom, uncheck /SAFEBOOT option
    Click OK
    Restart Windows

/SafeBoot is unchecked as I am in Safe Mode right now.

I have been trying to fix the problem myself and backup files and am getting no where.

    Hi try a repair install.
Insert the XP cd in the CD ROM Drive then switch on the computer.

You will receive the following message:

This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

DO NOT at this point select R.... DO NOT SELECT R

    Select ENTER

On the Windows XP Licensing Agreement screen
Press F8 to agree to the license agreement

Select current installation of Windows XP.and then
Press R to repair Windows XP.

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to repair Windows.
After you repair Windows , you may have to reactivate your copy of Windows XP

In the Safe Mode, you might try and uninstall Spybot. See if that fixes your problem.

Thats one way to do it. I Have found that after loading software, the computer refuses to boot to normal mode, then you can almost always bet the software installation was bad and removing it via the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel from the Safe Mode usually fixes the problem. System Restore works also. Glad to hear you are back.
