Ok im gonna try to make things much easier on you guys and with any luck you can give me some ideas on what to do

issue - server not found when trying to connect to facebook or any of its sub domains on any web browser

research - ive gone over at least 40 other threads worth of people having the same issue and none of the fix's thus far have worked.

fix's tried
resetting all my internet options to default
clearing cache and cookies
updating real tech driver
clearing computer of all unneeded trash such as bad registry entry's as well as a full virus scan
releasing and renewing my IP
rolling restart on my modem and router
checked HOST file for any fake entries
did a repair on my internet connection
did a restart for my pc

things of note
I can log in via proxy
my friend can log into my account from her location

system info
XP 32bit SP3

I think I may be forgetting something but if anyone has any ideas please fire them away. I have a trump card left but I would rather not use it.

Ok I found a fix on my own. I hope this helps some people out.

If its saying that server is not found and you dont have a bad HOST file, then add facebook to your trusted and/or internet sites on your browser. It worked rite away.

Why it suddenly needed this I will never know, but it seems there are a ton of people over the last month that have had this kind of issue.

Hope this helps someone
