I recently bought system mechanic and I love the idea of what it SHOULD do but all it really did was screw up my pc. Are there any programs out there that will do a full system cleanup but not mess up or slow down my pc?

Because you are the type of user who has posted in a forum, it is reasonable to assume that you have customized your system to some degree. The way you use your computer is unique. All-in-one programs are designed for the user who leaves Windows settings at default and does not want to be bothered by learning what is really going on. (My elderly Mother is a good example) For such people a set-it-and-forget-it program is ideal. For the rest of us such an application only fouls up our personal preferences and settings. With just a little research, quality stand alone programs that fulfill all of the functions available in System Mechanic can be had for free. In the process of finding, evaluating, and using those utilities you will become much more aware of how and why your system works, and will be able to make it work even more effectively for you. Good luck, have fun, and keep posting.
