I absentmindedly deleted the recycle bin !

I have a shortcut to it now, but I hate the arrow...

How do I get the original back?

also, is there anything I can do to clean this up?

The recycle bin is very easy. Just right click on the desktop and click properties. On the left you will see "desktop icons" just select which ones you want; ie recycle bin.

when you right click on the DeskTop you don't see properties...

When you finally find the Icon , you can only make it a shortcut ...

Right-click on your desktop and choose Personalize

Click on the Change Desktop Icons link in the upper left hand corner.

In the Desktop Icons Settings window, check the Recycle Bin box and click OK

The recycle bin icon should show up on the desktop immediately.

Tried three times to to duplicate. This is what I did.
Deleted Recycle Bin. Went into computer/$Recycle Bin folder/Recycle Bin - right click ,create shortcut. Got Shortcut icon w/arrow. Deleted Shortcut iconw/arrow. Went into desk top icon setting box, checked Recycle Bin, clicked ok and regular Recycle Bin icon appeared on desktop.

1st question. What would happen if he clicked the Recycle Bin icon in the setting box, then clicked restore default. then clicked OK.? I tried on mine, but nothing seems to happen.

2nd question. Where does a deleted regular Recycle Bin icon go when you delete it from th edesktop? It isn't in the Recycle Bin.

You can get rid of the arrow with a registry tweak. This is not for the weak so a better way is to download this tweaking program, which has, among other things, that option:

I would say that command is worded badly, it doesn't Delete the Recycle Bin, it just removes it from the Desktop.
