sony dsc p32 cyber shot

    I'm having trouble uploading pictures from my camera .
    the disc loaded ok but pc wont accept camera.
    I've tried sony and microsoft web sites but were no help.
    using xp home.

    What type of connector are you using..USB or other? Has the camera ever worked on the PC? Have the USB or other ports ever been used on this PC?

    What disk?

    As Rockn asked/suggested... if the usb ports are working... XP should recognize that camera as a removeable drive with no trouble... with the camera plugged in does it show in my computer?

    all usb ports are working .
    the camera has never been recognized by the computer although image transfer system installed from the disc ok.
    is not on my computer.
    i get a message file " sony pvu1 sys " not found as i've said i've tried sony & mirosoft sites but could not find .
    i've uninstalled and re installed still the same.

    Hi again

    there should be no need for any "image transfer system"...

    uninstall everything to do with the camera...then just plug it in and turn it on...XP should see it as a removeable disk in My Computer...
    If it doesn't for some odd reason... install the sony drivers only... as per the camera manual...you do not need too install any of the software on the disk

    that error seems to indicate that the drivers are not installed

    do you have access to, or have you tried a usb memory stick reader?

    still getting nowhere tried what you said uninstalled everything and plugged camera in still came up with message " sonypvu1.sys " not found.
    i do not have a memory stick reader. :(

    Did you try installing the drivers from the CD?

    Did you try just plugging it in, the camera, I mean. I own a dscp32 and a dscp10, with windows xp, they both show up as removable drives. If not that use the camera and scanner wizard built into windows xp. Try that.

    thanks to all who wrote problem now solved uninstalled everything to do with the camera and plugged it in. it opened on it's own disc is in the bin.
