What type of connector are you using..USB or other? Has the camera ever worked on the PC? Have the USB or other ports ever been used on this PC?

the disc loaded ok
What disk?

As Rockn asked/suggested... if the usb ports are working... XP should recognize that camera as a removeable drive with no trouble... with the camera plugged in does it show in my computer?

Hi again

there should be no need for any "image transfer system"...

uninstall everything to do with the camera...then just plug it in and turn it on...XP should see it as a removeable disk in My Computer...
If it doesn't for some odd reason... install the sony drivers only... as per the camera manual...you do not need too install any of the software on the disk

that error seems to indicate that the drivers are not installed

do you have access to, or have you tried a usb memory stick reader?

Did you try just plugging it in, the camera, I mean. I own a dscp32 and a dscp10, with windows xp, they both show up as removable drives. If not that use the camera and scanner wizard built into windows xp. Try that.
