    Hi there,

I am using a Sony PD 170 DV camcorder hooked up via 4 pin firewire to a Sony Vaio laptop. I am also using Avid Composer video editing software. The problem is that I can see the video from Avid in the viewfinder but it freezes in the viewfinder even though it is playing on the computer. This is preventing me from outputting a project. Do I need a driver for this camera?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Are you going directly into the Vaio--shooting and recording in real-time?

    Hi,

Thanks for the response. I have a prepared project on the computer and I am attempting to export to the camera. I guess I really just need to know if I need a driver and/or is there a way to update the firmware in this camera.

    Thanks,

    Paul

You have rendered the project on your computer and now you want to record the finished project back to the camera? You said its freezing in the viewfinder---but is it recording back to the camera without any other problems?

You really need a driver for that. I just can't remember what kind is it.
