My wife has a Sony laptop and recently the action key, ( left hand below the touch pad) has become harder to use. It will not respond unless pressed quite hard and quite often, more than one press is needed.

I presume there is some kind of "spring" arrangement underneath the key. Can it be replaced just by itself or does one have to replace the entire underneath?

The model number is VPCEB3JOE

I would take it back to where you bought it from if it was purchased recently.
