Hello folks,

So I've had this issue for a month or so and have been putting it off. I'd say I know more than the average person does as far as computer repair and troubleshooting. The issue is that through both the speakers, and headphone jack, the audio becomes distorted/fuzzy. The noise has no relation to the amount of programs that are being used at the same time. Immediately at startup, at the log in screen, the windows greeting sound is distorted. The Laptop I have is a Sony Vaio VPCCW17FX that runs Windows 7. I've tried everything from updating sound drivers, to updating the nvidia graphics drivers(although there is nothing wrong with visuals). I actually accidentally uninstalled and deleted the Realtek HD drivers hopinig that that was the issue, but even with just the "High Definiteion Audio Device" running for my speakers, the problem continues. I've searched numerous forums, and noone seems to have the same troubles. Can anyone help?

Please & Thanks,

Try lowering PCM volume to 75% in sound mixer I have had good luck with that. Provided you have the sound mixer. My realtek does.

One other thing to try Power it down remove the battery from the laptop for a few minutes then put it back and power it up.

I had RealTek but I uninstalled it hoping that the problem was RealTek. The driver was updated, and I tried different methods of adjusting the speaker configuration. I just removed the battery for a good 5 minutes, turned the laptop back on, same results. Right at startup the little wlcome jingle was distorted and crackling. Thanks for trying though...

SO. I went to the link you posted. I saw this ftp://ftp3.realtek.com.tw/5898_PG281_Win7_TurnOff_PullMode_Upd.zip on that thread, was excited to try it, but it wouldnt work. I took a screen shot that I will incluse of what I keep getting during the installation. I also downloaded the same files directly from the Realtek site, still no luck. Seems I've hit another roadblock? I'm not quite sure where to go now. I click "install this driver anyway", but no progress is made on the installation and the same Windows Security repetetively keeps popping up.
