does anyone have any idea where I can get a replacement power jack for a sony vaio laptop that is 5 years old or so. I mainly use it to browse the web, and check email, (buying a new one seems impractical) and currently the power cord won't register as connected. I checked the solder points on the power jack and everything looks good. No cracks or anything. If you hold the tip of the power cord into the jack extremely tight, it will atleast flash the lights like it detects the connection. Anyone have any other thoughts?

    Thanks

    Mike

The power jack on my Vaio gave out on me and I ordered a new one from Laptopparts.com. This link will take you the page listing all of the Vaio models (check the back of your laptop to check the model number):

    http://www.laptopparts.com/sony_laptop_parts/vaio/default.asp

I just received mine and am trying to decide if I want to try to install it myself or take and have a pro do it. The part cost $10 plus shipping.

    Good luck!

The power jack on my Sony Vaio PCG K37 gave out on me and I had to get a new one. This laptop is not available in Australia and getting parts for it can be a nightmare. I then found http://doctorlaptop-repair-jack.com/ and found the jack i needed on there with very clear pictures so i knew it was the right part. The site is very clean and easy to navigate so locating my part took no time at all. I emailed for some advice about postage and to my absolute delight I got a reply within 10 minutes of sending my email. I have since purchased 3 of the Jacks, in case my Sony Vaio cooks them again.

The DC jack i brought can be seen here http://doctorlaptop-repair-jack.com/jacksales/product_info.php?products_id=43

Darren (Doc) offers without doubt the best customer service I have ever had. This combined with a great price of $17 per piece and only $5.95 to get shipping to Australia means that if i ever need to purchase Sony Vaio DC jacks or other parts for my PCGK37 I will go straight to his online store.

I hope this helps others who are needing Sony parts or parts or service for their particular brand of laptop.

I hope anyone else needing parts for their laptops heads to his online store as I am sure they will be as happy as what i am with the service and price i got.
