I have a magnificent Sony VGN-AR21S running XP which I bought new several years ago and have only just taken out of the box.

Is it possible to have it upgraded to Windows 7

Thanks

Thanks for your most helpful reply.

Is it possible to add more RAM? The hardware issue is more important to me than Windows 7. I have read a lot on the internet that adding RAM did not work on this machine and it just got confused and still worked on 2GB.

I ran the Windows 7 upgrade advisor - thank you - but it did not work and said that the system was unable to print the report. I did it several times.

Thanks for help

Forget trying to run Windows 7 with only 2GB of RAM. You will be complaining how slow it is.

Did it come with the xp discs ??.......or does it have a recovery partition ??
It should not be slow if it's brand new out of the box.......are u sure it has not been used.... then reboxed?

I put it unopened in my safe when I bought it and, because of a change in circumstances, it has remained there ever since until I recently opened it.

It does not have any discs and I do not know anything about partitions.

Thanks

IE 8. My understanding is that this is the highest that can be run on XP.

Windows update is up to date, such as they are now XP is not supported.

Thanks

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager.

Expand these headings:

Display Adapters

Network Adapters

Sound Video And Game Controllers

Advise the exact description of the device(s) listed in each one.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) to the desktop.

After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.

Information about your laptop will appear.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.
