    Hi,
I replaced my power jack and the system powers up, but now, it won't go past the black screen. I once got the windows 7 start up tone, but no picture. Could not repeat that though. My model # VPCF115FM.

    Many thanks.

Did the previous jack become broken or defective in a way that could have caused other damage, maybe to the display adapter?

During your repair could anything have been loosened or damaged by static electricity?

I think that the Hardware forum is more appropriate than the Windows 7 forum, so I will move the thread (at least for now).

It just may have... hence my next two questions... 1- with the display adapter damaged (assuming), connect ting to an external monitor won't work, will it? And 2- is the adapter on my model on board the mother board, or is it separate?

    1. If the display adapter is damaged probably an external monitor will not work, but worth a try.

    2. I'm not the person to ask, but I think that the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M - 1 GB is your adapter and is a separate card.
