I sort my pictures with a number structure such as this:

    1.jpg
    2.jpg
    2.1.jpg
    2.2.jpg
    3.jpg

Lately, something changed on my computer so that my files are sorted like this:

    1.jpg
    2.1.jpg
    2.2.jpg
    2.jpg
    3.jpg

I want to revert back to sorting files like in the first example, What can I do?

For one thing you can try not using so many periods. The only periods should be just before the file extension jpg. I would use a lower dash like this

    1_0.jpg
    2_0.jpg
    2_1.jpg
    2_2.jpg
    3_0.jpg

    Give this a try.

Looks like someone switched you over to the old binary sorting method that was used pre-XP.

    Open regedit.

    Find:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Find the string NoStrCmpLogical and delete it.

You may also look in the same place under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to see if it is a machine-wide change. Delete it there, too.
