Hello

Recently I've had to reinstall windows xp, which I've done before with no problems, but this time when windows loaded, the sound just didn't work. Now I've already trolled the internet for solutions, let me just state clearly that I've already tried to update/reinstall the drivers, I've tried downloading the Realtek High Def Audio driver from their website, but no matter what I do my computer just won't detect a sound card or device. I've looked on the device manager and there are no yellow exclamation points anywhere, I've tried adding new hardware, but the Realtek one does not appear on the list anymore, and when it did, it kept saying 'cannot start this device, code 10 error' or something like that. Oh yeah, I've also tried re-reinstalling windows but no dice.

Thanks

Have you put in your service packs yet? High def audio can't start without either service pack 2 or 3 can't for sure remember which. You need to do that if you have not and then reinstall your drivers.
