Sound driver Problem

You get this a lot on XP when installing updated drivers direct from a manufacturer. It just means Microsoft hasn't tested it.

Are you updating to fix a problem or just to update?

'If it's not broke, don't fix it' as they say.. :)

Hmm..no sound on an onboard AC 97? That's odd. I would think Xp would have drivers for that.

Are there any exclamations in device manager? conflicts, etc?
Did you check Sounds in Control Panel to make sure your speakers aren't muted?

No i looked every thing is fine except NO sound Every option for volume is in the middle ....But when i go to update the drivers it gives me that pop up saying theyre not compatible with xp i am thinking its a problem with xp and i might reinstall Xp ....

Actually, the message is just saying that it can't guarantee that the driver will be compatible. Not that is non-compatible.

If you are going to reinstall the OS anyway, why not just hit continue and see if it works.

eh its working my best bud came over and fixed it .........
