    Greetings,

When I start Windows 98 I can tap the microphone and hear noise coming from the speakers without any problem.

Once the Windows logo with cloud background has been on for a few seconds the sound goes away and I have lost it when the computer is booted up.

I did a hijack this post below and sure would appreciat any help you folks could provide.

    Thank You,

    Brian

It doesn't look like there is something in the Hijack This log that would indicate why you have this problem. I would first troubleshoot to see where the problem is isolated to.

    1. Check the Computer Manufactuer's website to see if there are any updated Audio Driver files for the soundcard you have.

    2. Put in a CD and see if it plays any sound.

    3. Chkd the volume controller (sndvol32.exe) to see if it is setup and make sure that MUTE isn't on any of them.

Post what type of computer you have (brand, model), etc...and there could be some help.

I did notice you have WinAMP showing as being in the startup. When did the sound stop working? Can you get any sound at all?
