I reformatted my computer and re-installed windows, and now the sound doesn't work. I believe I need to reinstall the motherboard drivers, but I don't have the cd. I need to figure out what motherboard I have so I can find and install the drivers for it. Can anyone help me figure out what my motherboard is?

Download and instal PCWizard http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php . It'll tell you what soundcard you have (it will i.d. all hardware! ) . From there , google is your friend , though i'd advise going to the manufacturer's website first , where that's possible .

Another source to find out what it on your computer is www.belarc.com. It is a small free program and will tell you everything on your computer, including license numbers.
Something else to check, is in device manager, does anything there have a yellow triangle on it?
Also, if you open control panel, select sounds and audio devices what does it show there?
