I keep having this problem when i am connected to the internet.

When i try to download songs off the internet, the sound is broken or intermittant. This also happens with mpegs and the like. I have tried all kinds of things to sort the problem out like new sound card drivers and closing other programs down but the problem remains. Ive only got 64.0 MB so i thought it could be that i need to get more memory. However, the problem only started when i formated my hard drive . Perhaps ive missed something or gone wrong somewhere. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

have you tried reseating your soundcard
is the lead right in at the back

if its none of the above we'll need to know the spec of your machine nothing to do with the memory though i think

I uninstalled the sound card, took it out, then gave the connections a clean the put it back in and renistalled it. Unfortunately, this did'nt work. I'm running windows 98 with a cyrix 6x86 processor and a sound blaster live 1024 sound card.
If you need to know anymore info let me know. Thanks. :)

    Hiya

Is it just with sound and movies that you are trying to play through a media player, or is it with all sound issues?

If its just the media, lets have a look at that.

Whats your sound card? Go to Control Panel | System. Device Manager, under Sound will be the name of your sound card. Whilst you're there, are there any yellow !

Is the WMP the only software that you get no sound with? Go to the volume icon near your clock, rightclick and choose Open Volume Controls. Options | Properties. Tick all the boxes and click OK. Are any of the boxes muted?

Does this problem, if its just WMP, happen with all move files?

    These are some codecs:

Download some of these and let me know:

    Also, what version is it?

    Regards
