    Hi,

When I play MP3's via WinAmp, Windows Media Player or whatever player - or mpg's via Windows Media Player - I get a bad distorted sound: it skips, plops, ...

I first thought about hardware/driver problems.
Though, the strange thing I detected is: when I put an audio CD in my CD-reader it starts playing without any problem (via the CD program that seems to be part of Windows 2000)

How should I resolve this frustrating problem?

    This is my computer configuration:
    - Operating System: Windows 2000 (5.0 (Build 2195: SP4))
    - Processor: 450 MHz Intel Pentium III
    - Memory: 256 MB
    - ASUS P2B-F motherboard
    - BIOS version 1014.003
    - Soundblaster SB PCI128

    Thanks for any help.

    GDLM,

Did you download the MP3's via a file-sharing program, like Kazaa? If yes, then it's the RIAA and they're trying to discourage people from downloading music.

I'm aware of that practices. But that's definitely NOT my problem.
I'm talking about MP3's that played well before and on other PCs.
And I'm also having the problem when I play videos in Media Player straight from a website.
