I have my brothers computer here and one of the things I have not been able to fix is the sound. The cd plays flawlessly but mp3's are shaky and chopy. I am not sure what the sound card is but it has an opti 16 chip set. Can you help?

Hiya

Got this from OPTI's site

Opti does not produce video or sound cards, they produce the chips that other manufacturers use in their products. OPTi the drivers as a convenience and the best option would be to get the driver from the actual manufacturer of the card[/qoute]

so you may need to have a full look inside for the actual name.

Are you playing the mp3's on the web or offline?

Hiya

Did you have a look at Rollin's post to see if that helps?

Well, had a look at the chip number that you said. Couldn't find much. To identify the OPTi chipset, read the numbers after the letters 82C, in the example to the left, you would need to download the drivers for the '929' Audio chipset.

The example was from this pic.

What does it say in System Properties under Sound?
