I have a Compaq Presario 5000 with Creative speakers. I used to run Windows XP (n) but then installed Windows 2000 professional (y) . I Started up my computer and noticed that there was no sound and the colors on the computer were messed up (I think it is the video card). So I ran the help and all of the options came up to no results. So I spoke with a friend that pointed me in the direction of Compaqs' support website. I have no idea what to do there but I searched anyway and, came up no options because it doesn't support 2000 on Presario 5000s. I also need help in finding out why my colors are looking like they came of 3.1s paint program.

    Hi Dude,

I've had a quick look for the Presario 5000. Is it the one that was designed for use with W98/Me?
Have you upgraded to XP, found you didn't like it and then installed 2000?
Do you have a system spec by any chance?
Can you do a RUN, then type msinfo32. Inside the 'Components' root, you should see 'Display' double click on that and that will tell us what you have installed and what you have running.
It sounds like you have a old graphics card/onboard graphics that Windows 2000 doesn't have any generic drivers for. Strange that it works with WinXP though???
