Since I installed WinXP - Home Edition I have been getting a "boink" sound when I open some sites especially my own.

Can someone take a look and give me some idea of what is going on.?
I have shut off all sounds in Control Panel. Boink still there.

is it possible that the boink is from google's toolbar blocking a popup?

The SP2 Security Program does the same bOnK when blocking Active Content in IE. Option bar appears below the toolbar.

Well, guys, I know that it is not WinXp Service Pack 2. I have been trying to download it all day. I get to the point of install and it tells me download has failed. Maybe I should start a new Thread with that as a subject.

why don't you just download the network installation as one lump file with some sort of download manager software like getright

Mostly because it is a Microsoft download and not available as a lump file.

Sound still there but Service Pack 2 finally downloaded itself while I was sleeping. I will turn off my speakers to get rid of the sound.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. I really appreciate that.
