    Hiya and welcome

The sounds that you try to play via the Control panel: Are these the sounds you here like Windows error, etc?

If so, you may have a corrupt .wav file. Go into Sounds and in the first tab, choose a different sound from the drop down list. Test it using the play button. Is it static?

It may also be a problem with your audio itself. Rightclick your Speaker icon near the clock and choose Open Volume Controls. Options | properties. Make sure all the boxes are ticked, then OK. Are any of the volumes muted? If so, unmute them.

A few of the volume controls may have Advanced settings. See if you can lower the Bass in any.

Also, this error that comes up: Can you post the full message?
