I am trying to buy a new Motherboard and CPU. But I am getting confussed with all the options that are out there. I don't want a M/B with on-board video. If it comes with on-board sound and LAN I can live with it.

I see bundles for Soyo and Asus that seem good. But which is really better?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Im gonna agree with BrianF. Asus always has been a leader in motherboards. When you need top qualty, go to Asus. Soyo is relatively new, and not known as well, but I have heard some nice things about them.

ASUS, only had minor problems initially, but mine has been running like a champ for well over a year and I expect a couple more out of it before I replace it with a newer version.

have had 3 soyo boards no problems at all they use a really good bios set up jumperless design mb . only saw one problem that was when I bought a combo from tiger direct they sold me a thourghbred core xp chip with a board that only supports palamino . Getting threw to soyos customer support took about 45min phone time but the they gave me a confirm code to tell tiger direct they were wrong and returned the chip and got the right one . Moral of the story trust no one (lol) when it comes to combos .

ASUS all the way. I have had some issue with SOYO boards, and just never been a fan of them.

or Gigabyte for that matter. (They're the coolest looking and they're stuffed to the gills with features)
