My speaker cord came out, and now I don't remember where it goes in. I have a monitor with built-in stereo speakers, 1 audio plug. My computer was built for me by a friend, who moved away...
There are 5 holes that look like they would fit the speaker cable plug. One of them, the plug only goes in halfway and I don't want to force it. I've tried 2 others, no sound. I'll keep trying, but anyone have any ideas?
I've checked all the volume / audio controls. I can't even get a "chime".

If the end looks like a headphone jack but smaller the it will go in have way and then you will have to push a little bit more.(On the monitor)

There should be some markings on the sound card if you look at it under a bright light. If its a new sound card the port you want has a green circle around it. If its old then

"Are the speakers plugged into the speaker out or line out port? Sound cards usually have two choices. If you don't see the words "line out" or "speaker out," look for the image of an arrow coming out of a group of parentheses."
