Hey, this might be a stupid question but I sometimes find things saying that you can do it...is it possible for me to hook up a powerful car subwoofer up to either a stereo or computer sound system and if so how do i do it and what will I need? Thanks for the help.

No idea, but just a forewarning: If you have a CRT monitor, you don't even want to consider doing this.

No, I have a laptop...but if I can't do it with my computer's sound card I'd try it with my stereo.

Yeah, I've heard that you could do that, but I've never actually tried it.

You omit to mention if the "powerful car subwoofer" also has the sub-amp as well, which means you need a VERY grunty source of 12v.

Otherwise where are you going to find a few hundred watts of power from the few milliwatts that come out of the laptop audio out?

If you have the sub-amp and the subwoofer as a unit, and a sutable power supply (typically 10 to 20 amps at 12 volts) then connecting it is straightforward.
